road stretch from Mapusa to Nagoa circle will be converted into a one of the best roads with footpaths and proper signages: Calangute MLA

.

Expressing concern over steep rise of road mishaps in the State, Calangute MLA Michael Lobo on Friday said the stretch of road from Mapusa to Nagoa circle will be converted into a one of the best roads  with footpaths and proper signages.

Proper signages displaying speed limit and road bands will be installed at regular intervals along the road. All speed breakers will be painted so that two-wheeler riders are not caught unaware. We will make the Mapusa to Nagoa circle road a signature road for others to follow,” Lobo said.

The Calangute MLA was addressing a gathering while inaugurating hot-mixing of the road from Parra circle to Le Grande resort at Nagoa. Parra Sarpanch Chandu Harmalkar and Arpora-Nagoa Sarpanch Roshan Redkar and panch members of both the village panchayats were also present.

He said the road stretch from Bodgeswar temple to the Verla-Canca circle was taken by the GTDC at a cost of Rs 8 crore. Similarly, the stretch from Verla-Canca circle to Nagoa circle was widened and work of hot-mixing the road was being taken up by the PWD, he informed.

He further informed that a footpath will be built along the stretch from Le Grande resort to Nagoa circle so that commuters can walk freely without the fear of moving traffic.

“We are thankful to a lot of people who have voluntarily accepted to demolish their compound walls for widening of the road from Canca to Nagoa circle. The land acquisition process will soon be taken and the people who have given  the land will be  compensated,” he said.
