Work on dismantling many a beach shack along the calangute and Baga beaches considered the hub of resorts, have got underway. Most beach shacks in the state are sustained by footfalls from domestic tourists, but shacks at not so popular beaches were getting good business particularly from foreign tourists mainly from Russia and and other countries so as the tourists season has come to a close most of the shacks have shut down operations with the tourism season coming to a close

“We are done for the season and thus we have started dismantling the shacks,” said President of the  Goa  traditional Shack Owners Welfare Society Manuel  Cardozo, adding that the shack owners were facing an uncertain future as they are pensive about what is in store for them for the next season given the Tourism Department’s Policy for Shacks, which was in place for the last four years, also comes to an end this season and a new policy will be announced for the upcoming season that begins after the monsoon season
