The golden jubilee celebration commemorating the death anniversary of the late Bhausaheb Bandodkar, who is considered to be the first Chief Minister of Goa and is to be celebrated on August 12. That Day should be celebrated by the present state government at the government level along with everyone said president of the bausaheb bandodkar memorial trust and Former union law minister Ramakant khalap .

Addressing a news conference Khalap said that late Bahusaeb was remembered for the measures he had taken to help the tenants of agricultural lands and the Mundkars (people who had their dwellings in the properties of others) who cultivated the lands and lived in the houses of landowners without any right to protection of their livelihood or shelter got legal protection from eviction

“In this regard I have given an appeal to the chief minister Dr Pramod sawant that the 50 th death anniversary of late bandodkar should be held at the state level inorder to remember this great leader irrespective of party affiliations or religion and the chief minister has shown his interest in holding the remembrance meet for departed soul of late Bandodkar

Speaking further khalap said that late bandodkar formed the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party and swept the polls in 1963, 1967 and in 1972 and remained in power until his death in 1973 “said khalap adding that Bhausaheb Bandodkar was instrumental in bringing in rapid land reforms and gave top priority to universalisation of Education and thereby laid the foundation for a new Goa.
