Calangute police arrested one accused person for threatening and extortion of money
according to Calangute police on 29.11.2023, acting upon the complaint received from the complainant in the incident of extortion by the staff of Devils Club at Calangute, Bardez Goa, Calangute Police Station have registered an offense u/s 392, 427 r/w 34 IPC against accused 1) Pailwan bouncer (details not known), 2) Rambo (details not known), 3) Mr. Virendra Gurudas Shirodkar and 4) Proprietor of Devils Bar & Restaurant.
Further during the course of investigation, the accused named in FIR Rambo is identified as Raymond who was traced and brought at Calangute Police Station and placed under arrest after observing all Supreme Court guidelines, whereas other co-accused involved in this case is at large.
Police sources informed that the modus operandi used to extort money was the usual drill where the tourists were lured into the club and after the “fun time” the clients were forced to cough up money. it may be recalled that on late Monday evening, three tourists from Hyderabad were lured into the Devil’s club where they were forced to pay the initial entry fee of Rs 15,000.
Later, after an hour’s fun time inside the club which included music and dancing in the company of some young women, the three tourists were given a bill of Rs 80,000. When the tourists protested, they were roughed up and forced to pay up.
Further investigation in respect of possible whereabouts of absconding the accused person and gathering of evidence against the accused person including the banking transaction is in progress further investigation is in progress with PSI Kiran Naik under the Supervision of Police Inspector Shri Paresh G Naik under the overall Supervision of SDPO Porvorim Shri Vishwesh Karpe and SP North Shri Nidhin Valsan, IPS.
