The 62 nd Anniversary of the Liberation of the Goa was celebrated across the state on Tuesday.
The flag hoisting ceremony at the various places in the State were also held at the hands of Ministers and MLA’s at various taluka Headquaters at 9.15a.m. Minister for Tourism, Shri. RohanKhaunte hoisted the National Tricolour and inspected the Guard of Honour on the occasion of LiberationDay at Mapusa.
Rohan Khaunte said that Goa is constantly marching ahead in every sector and highlighted the multiple development projects completed in Goa – Manohar International Airport, Ayush hospital, new Zuari Bridge etc.
Speaking further he said Goa has made remarkable progress in last 8 years in Infrastructure, education, health, IT, Ayush other sectors. Goa is not just about the sun, sand and sea, but is also known for its beautiful Villages, spiritual and hinterland tourism. Goa Government is constantly working to provide best facilities, required infrastructure facilities with various polices and new technology in tourism sector he added. Tourism Department is working on a policy for homestay which will be introduced at the earliest, he informed.
Tourism sector, he said is one of the main drivers of the Goan economy. Goa is renowned world over as a top tourist destination and we have to maintain that place by working together in providing best peaceful, responsible and sustainable tourism, he pointed.
speaking on the issue of Touts tourism minister said that if touts are cleared then only dance bars & prostitution will be stopped automatically. Touts arrested this year are double as compared to last year said tourism minister .
Speaking further he underscored the challenges and responsibilities every individual should shoulder to take the State on the path of development and success and assured that Government will provide all the required facilities in all the sectors. Goa Government will introduce Goa Taxi App which will be announced soon, he informed.
Shri Khaunte also felicitated Damodar Verlekar, from Curca, Bambolim, Talathi in Bardez taluka for his tremendous achivement at international level in sports.
Later Shri Rohan Khaunte took salute from the march past of contingents of Goa Police, Students of DMC college Assagao , St Xavier college Mapusa , St Brito High School Mapusa , Ganesh Vidhya Mandir Mapusa, Janata High school Mapusa and Saraswat Vidhyalay Khorlim. Various cultural programmes were held on the occasion.
