Zero Waste and Inclusive “Bhurgeachem Fest workshop day two”
The beautiful village of Navelim, Salcette witnessed another amazing day of celebration of our tradition, culture and community spirit at the inaugural “Bhurgeachem Fest” at our lady of Rosary church, Navelim, on December 28th, 2023. curated by Festakar Marius Fernandes and
Dr. Gwendolyn de Ornelas.
This fest unfolded in the picturesque courtyard of Our Lady of Rosary Church, Navelim, Salcette, under the hospitable guidance of Fr. Gabriel Coutinho, the parish priest, coordinator Priya Almeida, volunteers and resource persons. The festivities kicked off at 10 am with the enchanting Kottieacho Nach performed by Priya Almeida and group. An engaging presentation from Miguel Braganza, Liza Pinheiro and Estella Pires on the theme “Know Your Plants”. They did a workshop on grafting, potting and explained the benefits of various plants to the delight of the children. Further, workshops like Mollam and Rotesao making, Choral singing, Football Fun were held.
Hosted by Fr. Gabriel Coutinho and coordinated by Priya Almeida, the workshops are having an impact on the children.
The festam and volunteers’ efforts has brought joy, learning, and unity among the children and parents alike. As we reflect on the day two of the 1st “Bhurgeachem Fest,” this event is poised to become a staple in Goa’s children’s cultural calendar, bonding its people for a brighter future. Fr. Gabriel adds, “ this inclusive festival curated by Festakar Marius Fernandes is to unite the people of Goa through tradition, culture and community spirit while showcasing our rich heritage.
