The people of Anjuna caisua panchayat have breathed a sigh of relief as the organizers has said that Sunburn will not be held in Goa next year.
For the last nine to ten years, the Sunburn Music Festival has been organized at this place, but the common people here are enthralled. The organizers have alleged that this year’s Sunburn Music Festival flopped due to administrative interference and it went into loss and they have also said that they have to pay more bribes than fees, which means that the organizers of this Sunburn Music Festival have defamed the government and government authorities said president of the Anjuna caisua Biodiversity Management Committee Ramesh Naik
In fact, this music festival, which is organized for the benefit of a handful of people, leaves the general public enthralled. For the organization of this music festival, the characteristic medicinal plants are harvested on a large scale from the bushes on the top of the hill, so every year the organizers try to degrade the biodiversity here to a large extent. Stray cattle that come to graze on these hilltops are literally driven away. Every year the common people have to face the problem of smoke, dust and huge amount of noise pollution and traffic is the biggest problem. Despite this, the organizers start advertising and ticket sales two-three months in advance without taking any prior permission, somehow taking the government and concerned departments for granted. Organizers earn crores of rupees due to the organization of this music festival in this panchayat area but they do not spend even a single rupee for the betterment of this village through corporate social responsibility (CSR) or have not yet done so, so the common people are not benefited from this large scale commercial organization. No, it is better that the Sunburn Music Festival is no longer held at Vagator, said Biodiversity Management Committee Chairman Ramesh Naik.
