Mapusa: A 7 days training programme on coconut handicrafts organised by the directorate of agriculture concluded on wednesday
the directorate of Agriculture had organised the 7 days training programme on “Coconut Handicraft” from 11th January to 17th January 2024. Mapusa MLA Joshua distributed the Certificates & Kits to the participants at Mapusa
Over the past 5 days, participants showcased creativity, crafting innovative items from Coconut shells (#Kotti). The workshop taught essential skills in shaping and finishing, emphasizing the significance of coconuts in handicrafts.
“I extend my sincere appreciation to the Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture Shri Ravi Naik for his unwavering support to the farmers of our state and for fostering artisanal talent in our vibrant community. His commitment lays the foundation for a flourishing agricultural community, promoting growth and sustainability” said Joshua .
speaking further Joshua said that art has no price as it’s a priceless form of expression of an artist,
“In Goa coconut is available abundantly and everywhere now people have learnt the art of coconut shell and we want this coconut shell art items should be developed in such a manner by the Goan artists so that it can reach the next level” said Joshua dsouza
Present were the Director of Agriculture Mr Nevil Alfonso, Master Craftsmen for the workshop Mr Vijay Datta Lotlikar, Deputy Director of Horticulture Mr Sandeep Faldessai, Agriculture Officer Mr Shrikant More, Zonal Agriculture Officer Mrs Sampatti Dhargalkar, Participants and Staff of Zonal Agriculture Office Mapusa.
