Goa Assembly witnesses riots by opposition MLA’s
Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, Revolutionary Goans Party MLA Viresh Borkar, Aam Aadmi Party MLA Venzi Viegas and some Congress MLAs showed strong opposition to the demand for a vote on the ‘Goa Town Planning (Amendment) Bill 2024’ placed in the House by Urban Planning Minister Vishwajit Rane. These MLAs started demonstrations by getting down to the Speaker’s well . So Speaker Ramesh Tavadkar escorted him out of the hall. Venzy Viegas was literally picked up by the marshals and carried out.
In the budget session today in the evening session, Minister Rane placed the ‘Goa Urban Planning (Amendment) Bill 2024’ on the floor of the House for approval. During this debate, the opposition strongly opposed the bill. Also, MLA Borkar demanded that a vote should be taken on this. However, Speaker Tawadkar announced that the Bill was passed by voice vote. Due to this Borkar along withVenzy viegas , Carlos Ferreira and some MLAs started protesting in front of the Speaker. The marshals tried to stop them. However, they were not ready to budge. He created chaos by demanding that a vote should be taken on this bill. Finally, the marshals picked him up and took him out of the hall.
