Many panchayat secretaries are walking around saying that they are going for inspection. People are not available to do the work in panchayats. If action is taken against them, MLAs or people’s representatives immediately cry to me to save him. Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho said to the House today, “Let me go, I will arrest such secretaries”.
Minister Godinho was replying to a question raised by MLA Praveen Jantye during question time. Most of the panchayat secretaries do not attend the office citing any excuse. So people’s work gets stuck. zantye demanded that a law should be passed to remove such secretaries from service immediately.

Some secretaries have been seen misusing their powers and engaging in numbering of illegal houses. At such times the secretary is ready. But, they are not available in the office for common people. Disappears by telling the reason of going for inspection. So now biometric attendance will be implemented for them. Apart from this, information about the houses numbered in the panchayat, when they were built and how much area they were built, will be recorded hereafter.
