Goa : Easter commemorating the resurrection of Lord Jesus from the dead was celebrated across the State with religious fervor on Sunday. Midnight and early morning prayers were held to mark Easter celebrations.
Easter is the celebration of Resurrection Sunday when Jesus Christ rose from dead, three days after his crucifixion and death on the cross
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is announced at the stroke of midnight when special prayers, vigils and services were held earlier to mark the occasion. Thousands of people from not only from Catholic community but also other religious communities participated in religious services with enthusiasm.
Easter eggs, cross buns and delectable brownies were flying off confectionery shelves with people seen celebrating the resurrection of Jesus. The exchange of sweets between families, friends, neighbors, was all part of the festivity.
