Alcon GSB Unity Cup 2024

Panaji – Antruz Strikers registered a 14-run win in the Alcon GSB Unity Cup T20 cricket tournament on Sunday, breaking the stiff resistance of the Knight Archers team. In Sundays second match Desserts & More Avengers defeated Mathagram Warriors by 23 runs. The tournament is being organised by Goa GSB Sports and Charitable Trust in association with Goa Saraswat Samaj. The matches were played at SK Ground Malcornem.
In the first match of the day, Antruz Strikers successfully defended a modest target with the help of Kapil Sinai Borkar’s penetrating strike. Kapil took 3 wickets for just 17 runs. Chasing 142 all out, Knight Archers were bowled out for 128 in 19.2 overs. At 74 for 6, Nikit Naik Dalal helped The Knight Archers to reduce the defeats margin.
In the second match of the day, Deserts and More Avengers scored 179 runs on the board. Captain Siddharth Ghanekar, who was adjudged man of the match, scored 39 runs off 21 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes. Mathgram Warriors were in a strong position at 117 for 2 in the run chase. After that, however, they lost wickets at regular intervals. Sandeep Dalal bowled the last over of the innings without conceding a single run.
Madgaon Royals and Rangers are in the top two in Group A with six points each after the conclusion of the fourth week of the tournament. Mapusa Dream Crushers and Deserts and More Avengers are third and fourth with four points each. Madgaon Saraswat Super Strikers and Mathagram Warriors are yet to win.
In Group B, Sinq Rangers and Antruz Strikers are in the top two with six points each. CQS scoring Willows is third with 4 points. Canacona Warriors and Knight Archers are fourth and fifth respectively with two points each. Sixth-placed Antruz Rising Stars are yet to register win.
