Mapusa: A youth named Prashant Pawar aged 30,a resident of Viegaswada Arpora and native of Karnataka) died after the JCB ran over him in Nagoa. The incident took place on Saturday around 7.30 pm.
A JCB No. GA 03 AF 0966 was parked near Sandeep Garage at Nagwa. According to the information received, the deceased youth Prashant Pawar used to sleep under this JCB every day to rest.
Meanwhile, the JCB driver did not guess that Pawar was sleeping on the floor. JCB driver Rajendra Srikant Shirodkar (38, Res. Dyaswada Nagwa) started the JCB and took it forward, when the youth was crushed under it. Immediately after that, Pawar was admitted to Gomekot for treatment in an injured state. He died there during treatment. In the post-mortem report, the doctor stated that the wheel of the JCB went through the stomach of the deceased, causing serious injuries and he died.
Based on the complaint of the deceased’s brother Anil Pawar, the Anjuna police registered a case of culpable homicide by negligent driving under sections 279 and 304 A of the Indian Penal Code against the suspected accused JCB driver Rajendra Shirodkar and arrested the suspect. Later he was released on bail by a Mapusa based court. Further investigation is being conducted by Police Sub-Inspector Ramesh Harijan.
