*IPSCDL Notice on Road Closure*
Panaji, 14th May , 2024: This is to inform the general public that the road from Caculo Mall to the Bridge near Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP), Tonca, shall remain closed w.e.f. from 14th May 2024 till 10th June 2024. This is in view of the ongoing sewerage works of laying of main trunk line and manholes from Fire Services premises to the Tonca STP. The said pipeline being laid will be passing along the road as well as across the St Inez creek, further connecting to the Tonca STP.
It is to be noted that there is apprehension that in view of the large 1 m diameter of the pipe being laid, the gaps/voids between the drilled hole for the pipe and the pipe laid would be naturally filled with surrounding soil and there is a possibility that this may lead to settlement of road in the abovementioned stretch in the coming days.
Therefore, to ensure the safety of the commuters/citizens/vehicles the said stretch shall remain closed. Commuters/citizens/vehicles are requested to please avoid using this road during the closure period.
IPSCDL is committed to complete this stretch in the shortest possible time frame and is seeking cooperation from citizens at large and residents of St Inez and Panaji in particular to enable it to complete this last leg of its St Inez Smart Road project successfully.
The closure of this stretch had been saved for last, aiming to minimize the duration of inconvenience that may arise during the execution of the work.
