Calangute: It is very much necessary to keep the traditions of the people of the village alive as traditions help to sustain Goan culture and Identity said Calangute MLA Michael lobo
Lobo was speaking at the Traditional Annual Fishing Competition of St. Francis Kids, hel at Almeida Vaddo at Parra. The Competition was followed by Traditional Ghumta which was played by the Village Youth and Elders . Traditional fishing methods such as angling were a real thrill to watch for fishing enthusiasts as they tried to catch the best fish from the rivulet
“The entire Parra village which is part of rural goa has kept the goan tradition alive by organizing such contests and I appreciate the people of the ward for holding such competition showcasing Goan tradition ” said Calangute MLA Michael lobo
Even the traditional Ghumot music which is famous in the interior of rural Goa and common among the fisherman played by our forefathers has resonated in the village of Parra” lobo further said adding that the traditions of the people are still alive in Goa and the village of Parra through such competitions
