CANDOLIM GRAM SABHA ADDRESSES VILLAGERS’ CONCERNS
Candolim, Goa – [6th October The Candolim Gram Sabha held its meeting on Sunday at the Village Panchayat hall, addressing various concerns and issues raised by villagers.
The meeting was attended by Sarpanch Blaise Fernandes, Deputy Sarpanch Amalina Dias, and other panchayat members.
Key decisions taken at the meeting were with regards to Developmental Works which included Approval of village infrastructure projects, including road repairs and maintenance regarding Waste the panchayat took a decision towards Implementation of segregation at source and discussion on effective waste disposal methods. At the meeting it was also decided to address stray dog issues, haphazard parking, and illegal parking at bus stops. It was also decided to resolve the law and order problems and dilapidated conditions of the Candolim football ground it the panchayat also took a decision towards Controlling dengue cases and ensuring proper sanitation.
Villagers also demanded for Proper Bus Signages Regulation of traffic flow through proper bus signages they also demanded for Action Against Hotels playing loud music and relasing od sewage sarpanch assured to take action by Revoking licenses of hotels releasing sewage. Villagers also demanded for Regulation of Outsider Hotels and put Conditions to stop outsiders from building hotels. Villagers also demanded for for an e-library and reinforcement of the current panchayat building to which sarpanch assured that the works will be taken up on priority,another villager also demanded for Cleanliness of Garbage Trucks picking up the garbage from the village and ensuring that the garbage trucks are clean.
“We are committed to transparent governance and citizen participation. Today’s meeting demonstrated our efforts to address villagers’ concerns and promote sustainable development,” said Sarpanch Blaise Fernandes.
“We appreciate the Panchayat’s efforts to improve our village. Regular meetings ensure our voices are heard,” said a local resident.
The other issues discussed were illegal Construction heated Discussions were witnessed between the sarpanch and the villagers on tackling proliferation of illegal construction and open mullahs. Villager Damien tellis proposed a resolution to oppose Sun Burn music festival and after long discussions a Resolution was taken to oppose Sun burn in the village. It was also decided to organise a protest March against Subash velignkar for the derogatory remarks on Goencho Saib saint Francis Xavier. The villagers also demanded with the sarpanch to address illegal activities at Candolim beach.
