Swayampurna Diwali Bazaar Inaugurated in Assagao
A special Diwali initiative has been launched in Assagao, Goa, to promote local entrepreneurship and self-reliance. The Swayampurna Diwali Bazaar, located at Munang Waddo, was inaugurated alongside Swayampurna Mitra of Samadhan Village Organisation ¹. This platform provides an opportunity for Self Help Groups to showcase and sell traditional Diwali food items.
The Swayampurna initiative is part of the Goa government’s efforts to make Goa self-sufficient ². The state government has appointed 191 Swayampurna Mitras for village panchayats and 12 nodal officers at the taluka level ². This move aims to support local artisans, mahilas, and self-help groups in selling their homemade and handmade products not only in Goa but also across India ¹.
“The Swayampurna Diwali Bazaar is a testament to the community’s spirit of self-reliance. By supporting local entrepreneurs, we can help preserve traditional crafts and promote economic growth. Let’s come together to celebrate this initiative and make Diwali even more special for our local artisans” said siolim MLA Delilah lobo
