9th Ayurveda Day Celebrated in Goa
The 9th Ayurveda Day was celebrated with great fervor in Goa, with Under Secretary GAD Shri Shailesh D Silva lighting the ceremonial lamp at a function organized by State Ayush Society in association with Ayush Mission and Directorate of Health Services – Goa at Porvorim ¹. This year’s theme, “Ayurveda Innovation for Global Health,” highlighted the significance of Ayurveda in promoting global well-being.
The event was attended by esteemed dignitaries, including Deputy Director, Directorate of Health Services, Dr. Rupa Naik, Deputy Director, Directorate of Ayush Society DHS, Dr. Minal Joshi, and Sr. Homeopathic Consultant PHC Aldona, Dr. Rupali Vernekar.
Ayurveda Day is celebrated every year on Dhanwantari Jayanti, which falls on October 29 this year ¹. The day marks the birth anniversary of Lord Dhanwantari, considered the divine propagator of Ayurveda. The Ministry of AYUSH has been observing Ayurveda Day since 2016 to nationalize this traditional system of medicine.
The celebration aimed to promote Ayurveda’s potential in addressing global health challenges and to encourage innovation in the field. With the theme “Ayurveda Innovation for Global Health,” the event sought to inspire researchers, practitioners, and enthusiasts to explore new frontiers in Ayurveda research and practice.
