FC GOA TRIUMPH OVER PUNJAB FC IN THRILLING ENCOUNTER
Goa, November 6, 2024 FC Goa secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Punjab FC in an electrifying Indian Super League (ISL) clash at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda yesterday.
Armando Sadiku and Iker Guarrotxena scored crucial goals for the Gaurs, propelling them to third place in the ISL standings with 12 points from eight matches.
Punjab FC started strong, with Asmir Suljic scoring in the 13th minute. However, FC Goa equalized through Sadiku’s eighth goal of the season in the 22nd minute. Guarrotxena sealed the win with his first goal of the season in the 49th minute.
“We showed great character and determination to come back from a goal down,” said FC Goa head coach Manolo Marquez. “I’m proud of the team’s effort.”
FC Goa will face Kerala Blasters in Kochi on November 28 after the international break. With this victory, FC Goa cements its position as one of the most consistently successful teams in the ISL. The Gaurs have reached five semi-finals and two finals in 10 seasons.
