FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS: GOA AKASH KANDIL COMPETITION SHINES BRIGHT IN PARRA
Parra, November 9 – The Parra Citizens Forum Association hosted the prestigious Goa Akash Kandil competition, attracting over 3,500 participants from across the state. This year’s event showcased an impressive 5,000 handcrafted, eco-friendly kandils made from sustainable materials like wood, paper, jute, and rice.
Calangute MLA Michael Lobo praised the event, saying, “This festival celebrates the victory of good over evil and light over darkness. Our aim is to encourage people to create Akash Kandils at home, promoting traditional craftsmanship and sustainability.” Goa Governor Sreedharan Pillai emphasized, “May this Diwali fulfill all your dreams and bring happiness to your life forever.” He also promised to provide support under the governor’s discretionary funds.
