MCC Legends Triumph Over MCC Dragons by 4 Wickets in a Nail-Biting Encounter
Margao: In an electrifying clash under floodlights at the Margao Cricket Club (MCC) ground, MCC Legends registered a thrilling 4-wicket victory over MCC Dragons in the 10th season of the MCC Members Cricket League on Tuesday. The Legends secured their third win of the season, bolstering their position in the points table.
Electing to bat first, MCC Dragons posted a competitive 146/5 in 20 overs. Captain Vaibhav Naik led the charge with a fiery 37 off just 17 balls, featuring four boundaries and a six. Aditya Prabhugaonkar added 36 runs off 29 balls, while Ankush Patil remained unbeaten on 25 runs from 14 balls. Opener Om Fadte also contributed a steady 28 runs off 24 balls.
The Legends’ bowlers kept the Dragons in check, with Brijesh Prabhu taking 2 wickets for 18 runs and Sidharth Desai delivering a stellar spell, claiming 2 wickets for just 15 runs.
Chasing 147, MCC Legends faced early trouble, losing 2 wickets for just 24 runs. However, Sahil Adwalpalkar (35 runs off 27 balls) and Sandeep Dalal (36 runs off 25 balls) steadied the innings with a crucial 73-run partnership for the third wicket. Gopal Gawas remained unbeaten with a vital 21 runs, while captain Amod Borkar chipped in with 18 runs off 12 balls. Despite a late breakthrough from Om Fadte, the Legends reached 147/6 in 19.2 overs, clinching victory with 4 wickets in hand.
The Dragons’ bowlers put up a commendable fight, with Sudhir Shet taking 2 wickets for 13 runs. Om Fadte (1/16) and Rajesh Chowgule (1 wicket in his only over, conceding just 1 run) also impressed with their spells.
Sahil Adwalpalkar was named Player of the Match for his match-winning knock under pressure.
The loss dealt a blow to MCC Dragons’ chances of topping the points table. Despite earning 6 points, they are currently placed fourth, trailing Legends, Masters, and Stallions due to an inferior net run rate.
