MCC Warriors Clinch One-Sided Victory in MCL 10
Margao: MCC Warriors secured a commanding 33-run victory over MCC Stallions in the 10th season of the Member’s Cricket League (MCL) T20 tournament, organized by Margao Cricket Club. The match, played under lights on Thursday at the MCC Stadium in Margao, showcased the Warriors’ dominance with both bat and ball.
Batting first after being invited, the Warriors posted a competitive total of 143/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Govind Lotlikar led the charge with a top score of 37 runs, supported by Sunny’s steady 25-run knock, as the duo forged a 50-run opening partnership. Contributions from Sidhit Raiturkar (27), Sudip Faldesai (14), and Amar Devidas (13) ensured the team set a challenging target. Among the Stallions bowlers, Viraj Tar stood out with figures of 2/14, while Kapil Sinai Borker (1/20) and Rohit Salgaonkar (1/33) chipped in with wickets.
Chasing 144, the Stallions faltered early, slipping to 2/7 in the opening overs. Their middle-order collapse left them struggling at 53/6. Despite Kapil Sinai Borker’s valiant 35-run knock, supported by Rohit Salgaonkar’s unbeaten 23 and Gautam Verlekar’s 10, the Stallions managed only 110/8 in their 20 overs. Three of their batsmen fell to runouts, further denting their chase.
For the Warriors, Raghuvir Kuncolienkar delivered a stellar bowling performance, taking 2/12, while captain Govind Lotlikar mirrored his success with figures of 2/12. Lotlikar’s all-round brilliance earned him the Player of the Match award.
