MCL 10: Dragons and Tigers Register Thrilling Victories

Margao:The 10th season of the Members Cricket League T-20, organized by the Margao Cricket Club (MCC), witnessed two action-packed matches on Saturday at the MCC Ground in Margao. M.C.C. Tigers and M.C.C. Dragons emerged victorious in their respective matches, showcasing stellar performances in both batting and bowling.

In the morning session, the M.C.C. Tigers triumphed over the M.C.C. Legends by 5 wickets. After opting to bat first, Legends posted a total of 131/7 in their 20 overs. Middle-order batsman Sandeep Dalal’s unbeaten 37 off 23 balls, featuring one boundary and three sixes, was the highlight of their innings. Contributions from Mahendra Pai Kuchelkar (26) and Sahil Adwalpalkar (18*) added to the score. Tigers’ Somay Naik led the bowling attack with impressive figures of 3/20, supported by Vikram Gaitonde and Shaunith Sawardekar, who picked up a wicket each.

The Tigers faced early setbacks in their chase, finding themselves at 59/4 in 8.3 overs. However, a composed knock by Smit Dalvi (35 off 24 balls) steadied the innings, supported by Captain Vedant Naik’s unbeaten 27. Extras gifted by the Legends also proved costly, with Tigers benefiting from 30 runs. The Tigers chased down the target in 16.4 overs, finishing at 132/5. Somay Naik was adjudged Player of the Match for his all-round performance.

The afternoon match saw M.C.C. Dragons clinch a thrilling 30-run victory against M.C.C. Stallions. Batting first, the Dragons set a competitive target of 130/7. Opener Om Fadte, who was named Player of the Match, anchored the innings with a solid 34 off 25 balls, hitting five boundaries and a six. Vaibhav Naik added a quick-fire 34 off 24 balls, while Sudhir Shet (13*) and Sudesh Rane (16*) ensured a steady finish. Stallions’ Raunak Nargundkar impressed with the ball, claiming 3/19, while Viraj Tar took 2/18.

In response, Stallions started strong and were poised at 90/3 after 12 overs, thanks to Kapil Sinai Borker’s valiant 39 off 26 balls. However, a dramatic collapse saw them lose their last seven wickets for just 9 runs, getting bowled out for 99 in 16.2 overs. Dragons’ Om Fadte starred with the ball, taking 3/18, while Mrunmay Das (2/18) and others chipped in to secure the victory.
