MCL 10: Warriors Defeat Knights in a Thrilling Last Over; MCC Masters Register a Huge Victory
Margao: The 10th season of the Members Cricket League T20, organized by the Margao Cricket Club, saw MCC Masters and MCC Warriors emerge victorious in two thrilling matches held at the MCC Stadium in Margao on Sunday.
In the first match of the day, MCC Masters registered a dominant 68-run victory over MCC Royals. Batting first, Masters posted a total of 136 runs in 19.4 overs. Anup Kudchadkar led the charge with 34 runs, while Angad Painginkar’s explosive 28 runs off just 6 balls, featuring 4 sixes and a four, proved crucial. For Royals, Vinay Sambari shone with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 12 runs, supported by Shailesh Redkar (2/8), Rueben Karekar (2/17), and others.
In reply, MCC Royals struggled to build partnerships and were bowled out for just 68 runs in 16.1 overs. Sairaj Dhond (18), Rizwan Kazi (10), and Mangirish Kunde (10) were the only batsmen to reach double digits. Masters’ bowling attack was led by Satyesh Kamat (2/3), Siddhesh Prabhu Alvencar (2/7), and Paul Fernandes (2/10). Angad Painginkar was adjudged Player of the Match for his all-round performance.
The second match was a nail-biter, with MCC Warriors defeating MCC Knights by 4 wickets in the final over. Batting first, Knights managed 128 runs, thanks to contributions from Captain Pranav Biche (20), Sagar Shet (30), and Venkatesh Nevagi (15). Warriors’ bowlers, led by Vrushab Kuncolienkar (2/11), Abhishek Goyal (2/15), and Sunny Kamat (2/21), kept the Knights in check.
Chasing 129, Warriors’ innings saw contributions from Vrushab Kuncolienkar (31), Sunny Kamat (19), and Sudip Faldesai (21). With 18 runs required off the last two overs, Amar Devidas held his nerve, hitting two crucial boundaries to seal the win. For Knights, Pawan Rane was the pick of the bowlers with 3/29. Sunny Kamat was named Player of the Match for his all-round performance.
