Five Russian Tourists Rescued from Drowning in Goa
Panaji, Goa, December 2024 – In a dramatic turn of events, five Russian women tourists were rescued from drowning on Tuesday in two separate incidents at Candolim and Benaulim beaches in North and South Goa.
The rescues were carried out by Drishti Marine lifesavers, who sprang into action to save the lives of the foreign tourists.
Three Russian women, aged between 30 and 40, got stuck in a rip current while swimming together. Lifesaver Kartik Naik quickly responded to their distress and rushed to their aid, bringing them back to safety with the help of a rescue board.
In a separate incident, two Russian women, aged 51 and 52, were caught in a rip current off Benaulim beach. Drishti Marine lifesavers Swapnil Farade, Samit, and Dasharath Sangodkar swiftly responded to the emergency. Farade secured the first victim with a rescue tube, while Sangodkar and Samit rescued the second victim using a jetski.
Drishti Marine has urged beachgoers to exercise caution and follow instructions from lifesavers to ensure public safety. With the tourist season in full swing, the organization emphasizes the importance of being responsible while enjoying the water.
