Calangute Walkway Unveiled: A Path to Paradise
Calangute: The long-awaited walkway connecting the Calangute Mother Mary of Boa Viagem Chapel to the Saint Alex Church was inaugurated on Saturday marking a significant improvement in the area’s infrastructure. This scenic walkway provides a safe and picturesque path for pedestrians to enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding fields.
The walkway is expected to boost tourism in the area, allowing visitors to stroll along without worrying about traffic or other hazards. Local dignitaries, including Sarpanch Joseph Sequeira and Parish Priest of St. Alex Church, Fr. Polly Lobo, attended the inauguration ceremony, along with other prominent personalities and local residents.
Sarpanch Joseph Sequeira praised the efforts of the local authorities and contractors who worked tirelessly to complete the project. He thanked the government for sanctioning the project and assured that the panchayat would maintain the walkway. The project, valued at 2 crores, has been equipped with modern amenities, including streetlights, benches, and waste bins.
Fr. Polly Lobo blessed the walkway and expressed his gratitude to the authorities for providing a safe and beautiful space for locals and tourists. The area has been landscaped with beautiful plants and trees, adding to the overall aesthetic appeal of the walkway.
