Adah Sharma Named PETA India’s 2024 Person of the Year
Mumbai, India – Bollywood star Adah Sharma has been named PETA India’s 2024 Person of the Year for her tireless advocacy on behalf of animals. Sharma, a meat-free advocate, has partnered with PETA India on various campaigns, including gifting a life-size mechanical elephant to a Kerala temple and starring in a provocative anti-leather campaign.
Sharma has also encouraged her nearly 10 million Instagram followers to adopt animal-friendly fashion choices and previously modeled sustainable styles in PETA India’s first-ever vegan fashion lookbook.
“Adah Sharma is a true champion for animal rights,” says PETA India Vice President of Celebrity and Public Relations Sachin Bangera. “Her dedication to promoting compassion and kindness towards all living beings is inspiring, and we are delighted to celebrate her work.”
Sharma has a long history of advocating for animal rights, from holding a Christmas party for rescued chickens to calling for an end to horse-drawn carriages in Mumbai.
“I’m proud to stand with PETA India in encouraging kindness and respect for all thinking, feeling beings,” says Sharma. “Once you realize the similarities we share with other animals, it’s only natural to want to spare them from suffering.”
