Drishti Marine Lifesavers Rescue 30, Reunite 17 Children with Families Along Goa Coast
Panaji, January 2025: Drishti Marine, the state-appointed lifesaving agency, reported a busy New Year break, rescuing 30 people from drowning and reuniting 17 children with their families along the Goa coast.
Between December 27, 2024, and January 1, 2025, Drishti Marine lifesavers responded to 21 incidents, including two triple rescues, eight double rescues, and 14 single rescues. The rescued individuals included tourists and locals from various states and countries.
In addition to the rescues, Drishti Marine also reunited 18 missing persons, including 17 children, with their families after completing identification and handover formalities. The agency also administered first aid to 11 beachgoers during the period.
The most notable incidents included a triple rescue at Palolem beach, where three males were rescued from drowning, and another triple rescue at Mandrem beach, where a 17-year-old male and a 66-year-old female were among those rescued.
Drishti Marine has urged beachgoers to exercise caution while entering the water and to heed the advice of lifesavers to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience along the Goa coast.
