– Laziz CQS Start Strong in Alcon GSB Unity Cup T20
Margao: Laziz CQS registered a thrilling two-wicket victory over Sinq Rangers UC in the Alcon GSB Unity Cup T20 Cricket Tournament organized by the Goa GSB Sports and Charitable Trust in association with the Goa Saraswat Samaj. The match, held under lights at the MCC ground in Margao on Wednesday, saw exceptional performances from both sides.
Batting first, Sinq Rangers UC posted a competitive total of 157 for 9 in 20 overs, with skipper Samrudh Bharne leading the charge, scoring 29 runs. Other notable contributions came from Annish Kaakode (25), Gaurav Gaitonde (20), Sahil Adwalpalkar (20), and Sanat Mhapne (20). Laziz CQS’s bowler Deep Bhende delivered an outstanding spell, picking up 3 wickets for 26 runs, and was well-supported by Nikhil Virginkar and Vasant Karmali, who claimed a wicket each.
In reply, Laziz CQS chased down the target with three balls to spare, scoring 158 for 8 in 19.3 overs. Rauji Kakodkar guided the team to victory with an unbeaten 33 off just 18 balls. Deep Bhende contributed a vital 30 runs, while Nikhil Virginkar (25) and Balkrishna Hodarkar (22) added crucial runs. Sinq’s bowlers fought hard, with Tunish Sawkar and Sanat Mhapne taking 2 wickets each, but it wasn’t enough to stop Laziz CQS.
For his exceptional all-round performance, Deep Bhende was adjudged the Man of the Match.
