Kunbi Village Project Set to Empower Over 200 Artisans

In a significant boost to the local artisan community, the Kunbi Village Project at Sanguem is nearing completion. Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS Secretary of Handicrafts, Textiles, and Commerce (HT&C), along with Managing Director Dr. Ajay Gaude, recently visited the project site to assess its progress .

The project aims to provide training and a platform for the sale of Kunbi craft, a traditional art form of the region. Upon completion, the project will have the capacity to accommodate over 200 artisans, empowering them to preserve and promote their cultural heritage.
During their visit, Shri Anchipaka and Dr. Gaude interacted with local artisans and stakeholders, gaining insights into the project’s progress and its potential impact on the community. The project is expected to not only preserve the traditional Kunbi craft but also provide a sustainable livelihood for the artisans involved.

This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the region, while also empowering local communities through sustainable livelihood opportunities.
