INTER-SCHOOL SPORTS FESTIVAL KICKS OFF IN CALANGUTE WITH GREAT FANFARE
Calangute: The Village Panchayat of Calangute on Wednesday kicked off an exciting Inter-School Sports Festival, which will run from February 5 to 8 at the Poriat Football Ground, Calangute. The event aims to foster a spirit of sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy competition among students from various schools in the region.
The sports festival will feature a wide range of games, including track and field events, football, basketball, volleyball, and several indoor games. A total of [number] schools and [number] students are expected to participate in the event.
Speaking about the event, Joseph Sequeira, Sarpanch of Calangute Gram Panchayat, expressed enthusiasm about organizing the festival. “We are thrilled to provide young players with a platform to showcase their talent, develop teamwork skills, and cultivate a lifelong passion for sports. We invite all participating schools and students to make this event a grand success.”
The West Coast Sports and Cultural Club, located near CSM Hotel, Calangute, will serve as the indoor venue for specific sports competitions.
Calangute MLA Michael lobo added that , “The Inter-School Sports Festival is a wonderful opportunity for our young athletes to shine. We are proud to host this event and look forward to many more.”
Secretary Arjun Velip stated, “Our team has worked hard to make this event a success. We are grateful to our chief guest, Shri Micheal Lobo, and guest of honor, Shri Prathamesh Shankardas, for their presence and support.”
Other dignitaries present at the event included Deputy sarpanch Geeta Parab, Paulo D’Souza, Prasad Shirodkar, Sunita Mayekar, Savio Gonsalves, Francisco Rodrigues, Alex Coutinho, Sapnesh Vaigankar, Anny Fernandes, and Filomena Fernandes.
The four-day festival promises to be an exhilarating experience for both participants and spectators.
