Rajesh Faldessai sets the ball rolling for underground cabling in Divar
PANAJI: Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai on Wednesday set the ball rolling for the underground cabling work on the island of Divar, a project that he said he hopes to be completed by the month of May ahead of the monsoons.
“Today thanks to the efforts of the government we have received a project of 57-crore for the underground cabling in the village of Divar. I thank the minister and the Chief Minister. This project, once completed, will bring huge relief to the people of Divar who used to face power cuts especially during the monsoons. This will benefit not just us but also the future generations,” Faldessai told the gathering after he cut the ribbon to symbolically commence the work.
“The work will start in two days. We want to complete the work in May, after which we will also repair the roads. We do not want a double expense of repairing the roads and then digging them up again. In places where underground cabling is not possible, we have already repaired the roads,” Faldessai said.
He added that the project was already taken up in the village of Cumbarjua and completed to the satisfaction of the villagers.
The symbolic event was attended by Sarpanch of Sao Matias Anuradha Volvoikar, Sarpanch V.P Goltim Navelim Mario Pinto, assistant engineer Sanjay Naik, Panch Members and other dignitaries.
