Get Ready for NoMoZo 6.0: John Abraham to Inaugurate Goa’s Biggest Festival
Porvorim, 6th February 2025: The much-anticipated 6th edition of NoMoZo is set to transform Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Marg in Porvorim into a vibrant, motor-free festival on Sunday, February 9, 2025, 3 p.m. onwards. Organised by Porvorim Rising, this one-of-a-kind community event brings together fitness, culture, innovation, heritage, and local arts, making it a must-attend celebration for all age groups.
This year, the event will witness a grand inauguration by Bollywood action superstar John Abraham at 4:30 p.m. adding to the excitement and energy of NoMoZo. Known for his passion for fitness and motorcycles, John’s presence aligns perfectly with the event’s ethos of promoting an active and healthy lifestyle.
An initiative by Tourism and IT Minister Rohan Khaunte, that was started in the year 2017, today the annual festival is a much anticipated one by Porvorkars who come together to organise it.
Minister for Tourism and IT and MLA of Porvorim Rohan Khaunte said: “NoMoZo has grown beyond just an event, it’s now a tradition that unites our community. This year, despite the change in venue, we are committed to ensuring the same energy, excitement, and participation as previous editions. Right from astronomy to eco zones to heritage and tourism zones, every corner of NoMoZo 6.0 has something special to offer.”
Ninil D’Souza, main organiser of NoMoZo, expressed his excitement for this year’s edition, stating, “NoMoZo is a community driven event that has grown beyond just a festival, it has become a movement that unites people through fitness, culture, and innovation. This year, we’ve expanded our zones and added new activities to make NoMoZo 6.0 bigger and better than ever. Every edition brings something fresh, and we’re excited to see how the community and people from Goa and visiting tourists come together to experience it.”
This edition will feature 12 engaging zones, including the Heritage Zone, IT & Science Zone, Astronomy Zone, Performance Zone, Youth Zone, Fitness Zone, Boxing Zone, Martial Arts Zone, Kids Zone, Health Zone, Art Zone, and Dance Zone. Each zone is designed to offer a unique and interactive experience, ensuring there is something for everyone.
The Heritage Zone will bring Goa’s traditions to life with live demonstrations of pottery, bamboo weaving, and Kunbi saree making, along with a showcase of traditional Hindu and Catholic wedding ceremonies. “We are recreating the Goa of our ancestors, offering a platform to showcase traditions that are rarely seen today,” said Anuj Harmalkar, Heritage Zone Co-ordinator. Complementing this cultural journey, the Performance Zone will feature a mix of folk dances, contemporary music, and live street performances, celebrating Goan talent in a lively, engaging setting.
The IT & Science Zone will be a hub of innovation, featuring robotics, 3D printing, drones, and Augmented Reality (AR) & Virtual Reality (VR) experiences. Visitors will get a chance to interact with cutting-edge technology and explore career opportunities in emerging fields. “This zone is about hands-on experience, many visitors will get to see and use these technologies for the first time,” shared Ryan Cruz Vaz, IT Zone Co-ordinator.
For astronomy enthusiasts, the Astronomy Zone will provide a window into the cosmos, offering telescope observations, constellation storytelling, and interactive quizzes managed by the Association of Friends of Astronomy (Goa). Meanwhile, the Youth Zone, led by the Rotary Club of Mapusa Elegance, will focus on talent displays, science projects, and pop quizzes on road safety, the environment, and Goan culture, providing an engaging space for young minds to learn and grow.
The festival will also place a strong emphasis on fitness and well-being. The Fitness Zone, Boxing Zone, and Martial Arts Zone will host interactive workouts, live demonstrations, and training sessions, allowing visitors to experience various sports first-hand. The Health Zone will offer free health check-ups and awareness programs, making wellness a key focus of the event.
For children and families, the Kids Zone will provide a fun-filled environment with interactive games, storytelling sessions, and creative workshops. The Art Zone will highlight the works of local artists through live art installations, painting workshops, and traditional Goan crafts, while the Dance Zone will invite attendees to join in on energetic dance sessions, celebrating movement and expression.
In addition to these exciting zones, over 50 stalls will be set up, offering a variety of local cuisine, handmade products, and eco-friendly goods, providing a platform for small businesses and entrepreneurs.
NoMoZo continues to support local talent and vendors by offering free stalls, ensuring a space where small businesses can thrive and connect with the wider community.
