CALANGUTE TAKES LEAD IN BEACH SAFETY: MLA MICHAEL LOBO LAUNCHES FIRST AID TRAINING INITIATIVE
Calangute, February 18, 2025 In a bid to enhance beach safety and emergency response, Calangute Village Panchayat, in association with MLA Michael Lobo, launched a first aid training program for local stakeholders.
The initiative, attended by shack owners, water sports operators, and community leaders, aimed to equip participants with life-saving skills and promote a culture of safety along Calangute’s popular beaches.
“Beach safety is a top priority, and we’re committed to ensuring that our community is prepared to respond to emergencies,” said MLA Michael Lobo, who inaugurated the training session.
Dr. Lloyd Desouza, a certified instructor in basic life support, conducted the interactive training session, which covered essential first aid techniques, including CPR and injury management.
This proactive step by Calangute Village Panchayat and MLA Lobo sets a precedent for other coastal villages to follow, emphasizing the importance of community-led initiatives in enhancing beach safety.
