Margao, February 22 – Shreyas Patil and Tithee Bhoomkar emerged victorious in the boys and girls under-18 finals, respectively, at the ongoing Baale BPS Open 2025 held at the B.P.S Club, Margao. Shreyas put up a commanding performance against Kyan Mavany, sealing the title with a 4-1, 4-3(1) victory. In the girls’ category, Tithee dominated Tvisha Sardesai, winning 4-2, 4-0 to claim the title, and also qualified for the final in the Ladies Doubles category.
In the boys under-14 final, Kyan secured a win after a relatively easy outing against Shaurya Verlekar, registering a 4-1, 4-2 victory. Meanwhile, in the girls under-14 final, Tvisha defeated Urvi Pai Panandiker 4-2, 4-0. Previously, in the quarterfinal of the same category, Kimberly D’Sa outplayed Analeah Pearl Menezes 6-1 to advance further, but retired from the tournament due to illness.
The girls under-10 final saw Myra Borker edge past Aaliya Metry in a closely contested match, winning 3-4, 4-2, 10-4. In the semifinals, Myra had dispatched Tanisha Chinmay Kulkarni 4-1, 4-1, while Aaliya battled past Maahi 4-0, (6)3-4, 10-5.
In the boys under-10 category, Christian Shawn Fernandes defeated Zarick Luke Faia 6-0 in the quarterfinal, before falling to Devaansh Naik in the semifinals 4-0, 4-2. In the other semifinal, Arsh Sardesai fought through a tough contest against Parth Kadam, winning 4-2, (6)3-4, 10-8.
Akhil Shirwaikar secured his place in the men’s singles final with a decisive 6-4, 6-3 victory over Siddharth Nunes in the semifinals.
Meanwhile, in the 45+ men’s doubles final, Sunil Signapurkar/Shubert Colaco triumphed over Naveen/Neville Menezes in a thrilling contest, winning 6-4, 2-6, 10-8.
The ladies doubles semifinals saw Tanya Shelyazhynska-Caldeira/Raisa Menezes defeat Kimberly Cabral/Junette Rodrigues 6-1, 6-0, while Tithee Bhoomkar and Vidhi powered past Poojal Naik/Atika Gaur 6-2, 6-3.
In the mixed doubles semifinals, Junette Rodrigues and Nishad Shevde dominated Liza George and Prince Agnelo Joven de Silva, sealing a comfortable 6-1, 6-2 win. In the Men’s Doubles semifinals, the pairing of Nishad Shevde and Anurag Agrawal defeated Prince Agnelo Joven de Silva and Akhil Shirwaikar 6-3, 6-2 to book their spot in the final.
