Calangute to Shine Brighter: Goa Electricity Department’s 33KV Underground Cable Project Set to Boost Tourism and Economic Growth”
Calangute: In a major boost to Goa’s tourism and economic development, the Goa Electricity Department has embarked on an ambitious project to lay a new 33KV underground cable connecting the 220/33KV GIS station at Saligao to various substations in Calangute, Nagoa, Badem, and the proposed Baga Sub Station.
The project, which was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, is expected to provide a reliable and efficient power supply to the region, supporting the growth of tourism and local businesses.
Additionally, the project includes the laying of a 300 MM DI pipeline, which will further enhance the region’s infrastructure. This comprehensive approach underscores the government’s dedication to driving economic growth and development in the region.
Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant emphasized the importance of reliable power supply for the state’s economic growth. “A reliable power supply is essential for our state’s economic growth, and this project will play a crucial role in supporting our efforts to promote tourism and industry in Goa.”
Shri. Michael V. Lobo, MLA of Calangute constituency, praised the initiative, saying, “This project will greatly benefit the people of Calangute and surrounding areas, providing them with a reliable and efficient power supply. I commend the Goa Electricity Department for taking this initiative.”
Saligao MLA Kedar Naik welcomed the project, saying, “This 33KV underground cable project will not only improve the power supply in Calangute but also benefit the residents of Saligao, where the GIS station is located. I appreciate the efforts of the Goa Electricity Department in implementing this project.”
Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo also expressed her support for the project, saying, “As a representative of the people of Siolim, I am thrilled to see this project take shape, which will be completed at a cost of Rs. 50 crore. The improved power infrastructure will undoubtedly boost tourism and economic growth in our region, and I commend the Goa Electricity Department for their efforts.”
