“MINISTER UNDER FIRE: Protesters Demand Vishwajeet Rane’s Ouster Over Land Conversion”
Panaji: Protesters gathered near the City Ice and Food Centre on Thursday evening, demanding the removal of Cabinet Minister Vishwajeet Rane. The protesters, who wanted to meet Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant to submit a representation on land conversion, were stopped by a heavy police presence near the Mary Immaculate Church.
A three-member team, including advocate Claude Alvares, was allowed to meet the Chief Minister, but were told that he was not present at his bungalow. The team submitted their representation and returned to the gathering, questioning the need for the heavy police presence and roadblocks.
The protesters vowed to continue their agitation until Minister Rane is sacked from the cabinet. They also shouted slogans against land conversion, fields conversion, and forest lands conversion. Additionally, they announced that an online signature campaign will continue until the minister is removed from the cabinet.
