OPPOSITION CORNERS GOVERNMENT OVER SDGH FACILITIES
Panaji: The opposition, led by Leader of the Opposition Yuri Alemao, on Monday cornered the government over its failure to implement various facilities at the South Goa District Hospital (SDGH).
Alemao, along with other opposition members, termed the SDGH as a “referral hospital”, highlighting the lack of adequate facilities and infrastructure at the hospital.
Health Minister Vishwajit P Rane was present in the House and faced intense questioning from the opposition. The opposition members demanded to know why the government had failed to provide basic facilities, including adequate staff and equipment, at the hospital.
Alemao said, “The SDGH is supposed to be a district hospital, but it lacks even basic facilities. Patients are being referred to other hospitals, making it a referral hospital.”
Rane assured the House that the government was taking steps to improve the facilities at the SDGH. However, the opposition remained unsatisfied, demanding immediate action to address the issues.
