GOA STATE CONSUMER PROTECTION COUNCIL HOLDS SECOND MEETING
Porvorim: The second meeting of the State Consumer Protection Council was held under the chairmanship of Minister for Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Shri Ravi S Naik, at Mantralaya, Porvorim. The meeting focused on proposed initiatives to strengthen consumer protection in Goa, yielding valuable suggestions from attendees ¹.
Secretary of the Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Shri Sanjit Rodrigues, IAS, and Member Secretary of the Goa State Consumer Council and Director, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Shri Jayant G. Tari, were among the prominent officials present at the meeting. Other members of the council also attended, contributing to the discussions on enhancing consumer protection in the state.
As per the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, every state government is required to establish a State Consumer Protection Council to promote and protect consumer rights ². The council’s objectives include advising on consumer protection and welfare, as well as promoting consumer awareness and education.
The meeting’s outcome is expected to lead to significant improvements in consumer protection mechanisms in Goa, ultimately benefiting the state’s consumers.
