IPL Betting Ring Busted in calangute : 3 Arrested, Electronics Worth Rs 1.1 Lakh Seized
Calangute: In a crackdown on illegal betting activities, the Calangute Police Station has arrested three individuals for allegedly placing bets on the T-20 IPL cricket match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Titans on April 22, 2025.
The police conducted a raid at a flat in Baga Calangute, seizing one laptop and seven mobile phones valued at approximately Rs 1,10,000. The accused, Ankit Rathore (34) from Bhopal, and Badal (32) and Ajay (32) from Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, were charged under the Goa, Daman, and Diu Public Gambling Act.
The operation was carried out between 12:35 AM and 2:45 AM, and the investigation is ongoing under the supervision of senior police officials. This bust highlights the authorities’ efforts to curb illegal betting activities in the state.
