CYCLONE ALERT: MORJIM BEACH WITNESSES HIGH-LEVEL MOCK EXERCISE TO TEST GOA’S DISASTER RESPONSE
Panaji, – In a major disaster preparedness drill, the State Disaster Management Authority, Govt. of Goa, in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, conducted a state-level mock exercise on cyclone and induced disasters at Morjim Beach.
The exercise simulated a high-intensity cyclone scenario, testing the response capabilities of government agencies, emergency responders, and local authorities. With Goa’s coastal regions vulnerable to cyclones, this drill aimed to assess and enhance the state’s disaster management capabilities.
The mock exercise demonstrated Goa’s commitment to disaster preparedness and response, ensuring the safety and resilience of its citizens and infrastructure. The successful conduct of this exercise will help refine strategies and improve disaster management in Goa, making it better equipped to face cyclones and other natural disasters.
