Raia Sports Club Advances to Calangute Panchayat Cup Semifinals
Calangute: Raia Sporting Club secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Candolim SC in the Calangute Panchayat Cup 2025, advancing to the semi-finals. The match, held at Poriat ground, was affected by intermittent rain showers, but both teams displayed attacking flair, resulting in five goals being scored.
Leran Dais broke the deadlock for Raia Sporting in the 15th minute, but Nikhil Naik’s quick response for Candolim SC levelled the score just five minutes later. Sanket Jotkar’s well-timed header gave Candolim SC the lead in the 38th minute. However, Velito Cruz’s penalty kick in the 50th minute restored parity at 2-2. The match was sealed in Raia Sporting’s favor when Velito Cruz struck again in the 57th minute, scoring his second goal of the match.
Velroy Borges was adjudged man-of-the-match for his impressive performance. Raia Sporting will now face Saligao Sporting in the second semi-final on May 29.
