“GOA CELEBRATES 39 YEARS OF STATEHOOD WITH PRIDE AND PROGRESS”

Panaji, May 30 – Goa marked its 39th Statehood Day with great enthusiasm and pride, as Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and other dignitaries gathered at the Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Kala Academy, Panaji. The state-level function was attended by several ministers, including Minister for Protocol Shri Mauvin Godinho, Minister for Social Welfare Shri Subhash Phal Dessai, and Minister for Tourism Shri Rohan Khaunte, among others.

During the celebrations, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant declared Goa a fully literate state under the ULLHAS New India Literacy program, highlighting the state’s commitment to education and progress. Additionally, he inaugurated a photo exhibition titled “Goa-Then and Now,” showcasing rare photos related to Goa’s statehood journey ¹.

The event emphasized the importance of preserving Goa’s unique cultural heritage and identity. National leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, extended their greetings to the people of Goa, praising the state’s vibrant culture, scenic landscapes, and breathtaking beaches.

As Goa continues to grow and develop, the statehood celebrations serve as a reminder of the importance of balancing progress with environmental sustainability and equitable growth, ensuring that Goa’s distinct identity is preserved for future generations ¹.
