CONGRESS WORKERS CLASH WITH POLICE IN MAPUSA OVER ROAD REPAIR DEMANDS

Mapusa, June 5, 2025: A heated confrontation erupted between Congress workers and police outside the Mapusa Sub-District Office  on Thursday as protesters demanded urgent road repairs. The scuffle, led by the Saligao Block Congress Committee, turned violent when police prevented the group from entering the office to submit a memorandum.

Tensions escalated after officials failed to receive the protesters, leading to a clash between the two groups. GPCC North Goa President Virendra Shirodkar’s shirt was allegedly torn during the altercation, adding fuel to the fire.

The protest highlights the growing frustration among residents over the state’s infrastructure and the government’s response to pressing issues. The Congress party’s demands for immediate road repairs have sparked a wider debate about the government’s priorities and its ability to address the needs of its citizens.

The incident has raised questions about the government’s commitment to listening to the concerns of its people and its willingness to engage in constructive dialogue. As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how the authorities will respond to the protesters’ demands and work towards resolving the issue.
