Drishti Marine Lifesavers Team Up To Trace 12-year-old Missing Boy at Calangute Beach
Panaji, June 2025 – In a swift collaborated effort, a team of Drishti Marine lifesavers located and traced a 12-year-old boy who had gone missing at Calangute beach during the Eid weekend, a period that also saw one major triple rescue along Goa’s coastline.
Calangute Beach: According to available information, the pre-teenage boy had visited the popular North Goa beach on Sunday (June 8), along with a group of 18 tourists from Maharashtra. After he went missing, his family members who had unsuccessfully scoured the beach looking for the missing boy, contacted on-duty Drishti Marine lifesavers. The lifesavers quickly shared a digital image of the missing boy on their WhatsApp groups and started searching the beach for him, eventually tracing him. He was handed in the care of his parents after following proper identification protocol.
Colva beach (missing children traced): An eight-year-old girl who went missing during a family picnic at South Goa’s Colva beach was traced by lifesavers and reunited with her family. The girl had disappeared when the family was at the beach, following which they had immediately contacted Drishti Marine lifesavers for assistance. Family members of two other women who had also gone missing at the Colva beach, breathed a sigh of relief, after the missing persons were traced by lifesavers at the beach.
Colva beach (lifesaving): Three persons, aged between 17 and 22 years, from Goa and Uttar Pradesh were rescued from the waters off the Colva beach, after they waded into waist deep water, before they were pulled in by waves. Their desperation was spotted by Drishti Marine lifesavers, Arun Shirodkar, Gauresh Gaude, Megharaj Juvatkar and Sahil Tikkam, who rushed into the water using rescue tubes and a jetski and brought all victims ashore.
