Cumbarjua Mahila Block Congress Holds Block Meeting to Strengthen Party Cadre at Grassroots

PANAJI: The Cumbarjua Mahila Block Congress, under the leadership of Mahila President Pratiksha Khalap, held its block-level meeting at Divine Touch, Old Goa, focusing on revitalising its organisational structure and mobilising support ahead of the upcoming Zilla Panchayat Elections. The meeting also reinforced the Congress party’s commitment to women’s empowerment and strengthening its presence at the grassroots level.

The meeting was attended by key leaders including Pratiksha Khalap, Mahila President of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee; Mollie Da Gama, North District Mahila Congress President; Caterina Pires, Cumbarjua Block Mahila Congress President; Vishal Volvoikar, PCC Block President, Cumbarjua; Rinaldo Rozario, North District Youth Congress President; Samil Volvoikar; Saee Volvoikar, Vice President, Mahila Congress; Supriya Tari, Sarpanch of Sao Mathias, Divar; and Jennifer Lobo, General Secretary of the Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee, among others.

The programme began with a welcome address and introductions by Vishal Volvoikar, followed by the felicitation of dignitaries and self-introductions by members representing all village panchayats under the block, creating a spirit of unity and teamwork.

Addressing the gathering, Mahila Congress President Pratiksha Khalap emphasised that this was the first official meeting of the reconstituted Cumbarjua Mahila Congress Block. She informed that only dedicated and active members had been reinstated with new responsibilities to ensure effective functioning and better coordination on the ground.

She highlighted the Congress party’s unwavering ideology that sets it apart from other parties and reaffirmed its commitment to stand by women in distress through initiatives like Nari Nyay. Raising concern over the rising crimes against women in Goa, she called for greater vigilance and stronger coordination with the police and other government agencies.

“The Congress party has always believed in empowering people at the grassroots and giving voice to every woman and household. Through the Mahila Congress, we are committed to strengthening our block committees, nurturing dedicated members, and carrying forward the true ideology of the Congress party that upholds justice, unity, and equal opportunity for all,” said Pratiksha Khalap.

North District Mahila Congress President Mollie Da Gama highlighted the need for teamwork and urged members to ensure robust booth-level representation by appointing three representatives for each of the 40 booths. She also stressed the importance of building a strong cadre to strengthen the party in the long run and announced the formation of Mahila clusters, appointing Saee Volvoikar as the Cluster In-charge for Tiswadi.

Block Mahila Congress President Caterina Pires called for increasing Mahila membership and suggested holding regular meetings to address local issues and plan outreach activities effectively. She was presented with a token of appreciation by the State Mahila President for her dedication in rebuilding the Cumbarjua Block.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Saee Volvoikar, who expressed gratitude to all leaders, members, and attendees for their active participation and support in taking forward the Congress party’s mission at the grassroots.
