*Minister Khaunte Inaugurates Mega Health Camp in Socorro*
Porvorim, June 15, 2025: In a push towards community well-being and accessible healthcare, Porvorim Rising, in collaboration with RG Hospital and GKB High-Tech Lenses, organised a day-long Mega Health Camp at the Socorro Panchayat Hall, drawing over 400 plus residents from Socorro and surrounding areas.
The camp was inaugurated by Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, Honorable Minister for Tourism, Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, and MLA of Porvorim, in the presence of Ms. Sonia Pednekar, Sarpanch of Socorro, Mr. Sapnil Chodankar, Sarpanch of Penha de França, Ms. Kavita Naik, Zilla Panchayat Member and Subhash Salkar and other dignitaries.
Minister Khaunte highlighted the importance of prioritizing health at the community level, stating, “Health should never be an afterthought. Regular checkups and early intervention help improve the quality of our lives. Through camps like these, we are not just providing services; we are creating awareness and encouraging people to take care of their health. That’s what the Fit India movement stands for: empowering every individual to remain healthy and fit. Our focus remains on making healthcare accessible to all.”
Through the camp, residents had access to free eye checkups, general health consultations, blood sugar testing, and weight checks, as well as specialist consultations in general medicine, urology, and general surgery.
Free spectacles will be provided to those identified during eye screenings, very soon. Spectacles for all eligible beneficiaries will be distributed shortly.
The camp received an overwhelming response from citizens, reflecting strong community participation and the growing need for accessible health services at the grassroot level.
