“LAW AND ORDER REDEFINED: Calangute Panchayat and Police Join Forces to Tackle Menace of Illegal Activities”
In a decisive move to tackle the growing menace of illegal activities in the village, the Calangute Panchayat held a high-level meeting with the Calangute Police and Traffic Police Inspector. Led by Sarpanch Mr. Joseph Sequeira, the Panchayat members discussed the pressing issues that have been plaguing the village, including the proliferation of illegal spas and salons, tourist harassment by touts, sale of gutka and other substances, street prostitution post 11 PM, unauthorized nightclubs, and haphazard parking and traffic issues.
The meeting was a follow-up to a resolution passed in the Panchayat meeting on June 5, 2025, emphasizing the need for strict enforcement and support from the police department to tackle these problems. The Panchayat has urged the authorities to take decisive action to bring the situation under control, ensuring a safer and more orderly environment for residents and tourists alike.
The Calangute Panchayat’s efforts to address these pressing issues are commendable, and residents and tourists alike are urged to cooperate with the authorities in maintaining law and order. Together, we can work towards creating a safer and more pleasant environment for all.
With the Panchayat and police department working together, the village can expect a significant reduction in illegal activities, making it a better place to live and visit. The Calangute Panchayat’s initiative is a welcome step towards maintaining law and order and ensuring the well-being of the community.
