NORTH GOA DISTRICT LEVEL COORDINATION COMMITTEE MEETING HELD TO DISCUSS TOBACCO CONTROL INITIATIVES
Panjim, June 24: A meeting of the District Level Coordination Committee, Tobacco Control North Goa, was convened under the chairmanship of Shri Ankit Yadav, IAS, Collector North Goa. The meeting saw the participation of officials from various departments, including the Member Secretary of the District Task Force, Goa Dental College, Education Department, Police Department, and GoaCAN.
The key issues discussed during the meeting included the implementation of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) by Magistrates and Police officials. The committee also deliberated on framing a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for tobacco-free villages and targeted awareness drives to promote tobacco control in the region.
The meeting aimed to strengthen the efforts to curb tobacco use in North Goa and promote a healthier environment for its residents. The committee’s initiatives are expected to have a positive impact on the community, particularly among the youth, by raising awareness about the dangers of tobacco consumption and enforcing laws that regulate its use.
