GOA ON HIGH ALERT: IMD ISSUES NOWCAST WEATHER WARNING FOR HEAVY RAINFALL AND STRONG WINDS

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast weather warning for Goa, predicting light to moderate rainfall with strong winds gusting up to 50 kmph in the next 1-3 hours. The warning, issued at 8:30 am IST on July 3, 2025, covers most places in North Goa and South Goa. Strong winds of 30-40 kmph, gusting up to 50 kmph, are forecasted for the region, with light to moderate rainfall expected in the next 1-3 hours. Clouds are approaching coastal talukas from the Arabian Sea, and other talukas are likely to be affected.

The IMD has advised caution due to potentially hazardous weather conditions and warned fishermen not to venture into the sea due to squally weather conditions. A yellow alert has been issued, warning of heavy rainfall likely to affect both districts until July 7, with temperatures expected to range between 25°C and 32°C during this period.

Tourism activities have been stopped on beaches, and lifeguards are patrolling the shoreline. Mechanised fishing has been banned in Goa until July 31, with traditional fishermen netting their catch using conventional methods along the shore.
